Westonbirt, The National Arboretum is world-famous for autumn colour in October and November.
But did you know that spectacular spring flowers, summer walks amongst lush woodlands, Treefest, and the Enchanted Christmas illuminated trail offer great reasons to visit Westonbirt through all seasons?
Why Westonbirt?
Our group-friendly location: we're located in Gloucestershire, just a few miles outside of the delightful market town of Tetbury and a stone's throw from Highgrove House, making Westonbirt an ideal destination in your itinerary for a group day out in the south of the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Beauty.
We are also within easy driving distance of the many historic cities and towns in the south west of England which are a magnet for group visits. We are well within an hour's drive of Gloucester, Cheltenham, Bristol and Bath.
Westonbirt Arboretum is an accessible site for all abilities, with wheelchairs and mobility scooters available for free use when booked in advance.
A friendly and knowledgeable host can be arranged to welcome group visits, give a brief introduction to the site and directions to facilities. Our designated coach area offers free coach parking.
Experienced Friends of Westonbirt Arboretum volunteer guides offer guided tours to help visitors delve into the history of Westonbirt as a garden and its importance as a tree collection. These tours are a fantastic way to discover more about The National Arboretum and cost £30 for up to 25 people.
For lunch, groups can sit down at Westonbirt’s onsite restaurant, Maples. Hot meals and Sunday carvery are served 12-2pm and the restaurant is open 364 days a year 10am - 5pm. The Courtyard Café is open from Easter until Christmas, 10am-5pm offering outdoor snacks and drinks. Picnic benches and tables are set amongst the trees on the Grade I listed Downs landscape.
The Forest Shop is a great place to shop for souvenirs, crafts, accessories and gardening books. For gardeners, the Plant Centre offers everything from herbaceous perennials and trees to gardening gifts.
