Ceinws
At the beginning of 2004 the Forestry Commission, as the landowner of a site within the village of Ceinws (near Machynlleth), called a public meeting to ascertain if the community was interested in being involved in its future development. The overwhelming positive response from the villagers and their desire that the site be managed by the local community for the benefit of the local community, led to the formation of the Heulfryn Regeneration Steering Committee (HRSG).
The aims of the group are to promote local regeneration for the benefit of local people (and which is subject to a significant degree of local control), engage in public debate about regeneration and lobby assistance and help generate funding from other organisations to obtain it’s objectives.

With the help of Ecodyfi and Communities First, WDA funding was secured and a consultation report was commissioned from Rural Resources. The priorities identified by the report formed the remit of the steering group:
