Dig Days Return!
12th June 2009
It's been a while since we held a dig day at Haldon, but they are back! Now that the new trail build is well under way it's time to turn our attention to the berm section, the only section that will be incorporated in to the new trail.
Our first dig day will be Saturday 18th July 10am-4pm and everyone is welcome. We will meet at the Rangers’ Office. We’ll provide all the tools and gloves you need, so just bring lunch, a drink and wear old clothes and sturdy footwear. If you're planning on attending please send an e-mail to haldon.rangers@forestry.gsi.gov.uk so we can get a rough idea who to expect. Please note that under 16s need to accompanied by an adult.
We also wanted to give a quick reminder of a few things you can do to help the new trail build. Most importantly please keep off the trails! They may look fun but by riding them you will delay the opening as it creates more work for the surface to be finished! With regards to the existing trail all the sections are open again after a few fallen trees. However, please remember you can’t get out by heading up the tarmac hill by the big house - this exit route is now blocked. Please follow the signs for the Haldon Gateway Car Park which bring you out on to the ridge road at the far end of the woods near the A38 turning.
Last but not least – don’t forget it’s the Bike Bash this Sunday (14th June) 10.30am-4.30pm. There will be loads going on including demoing the latest bikes, U16 races, cycle circus, trails display, Bike Doctor, maintenance workshops and much more.
