Tramper Hire for people with limited mobility
The Countryside Mobility scheme provides easy access to the countryside for people with disabilities living in and visiting South West England through a mobility scooter hire scheme. 'Tramper' all-terrain mobility scooters provide access for all to a wide range of wheelchair accessible outdoor visitor attractions across the region including Haldon Forest Park. The Haldon Tramper can be booked with our Rangers at their office on site, by phone on 01392 834251 or by emailing them at haldon.rangers@forestry.gsi.gov.uk.
More details about the wider scheme can be found by visiting the Countryside Mobility Scheme website.
Haldon Rangers
There is at least one ranger on-site every day during opening hours. A ranger can usually be found in the ranger's office near the main car park, however they do have many duties that require them to be out and about in the park. The ranger on duty will always leave their contact number on the board, displayed in the office window.
If you have an emergency, always contact the emergency services first.
Camping
Please note that camping and overnight stays are not permitted in the forest or our car parks.
Bike Hire
Forest Cycle Hire can be found in the Hub, just past the Ranger's Office. Call 01392 833768 for bookings and information.
Organising events at Haldon Forest Park
Many organisations and groups contact us to hold events and activities ranging from group walks, to cycle races, to food fairs.
If you wish to organise an event on Forestry Commission land you will need our permission. We need to check that the event is properly organised, has adequate insurance cover and doesn't clash with other events or forest operations. Please give as much notice as possible, we require at least six weeks.
Other activities may also require permission, including horse riding.
