The Forestry Commission and its partners have secured a Heritage Lottery Grant to fund the Delivery of the Grow With Wyre Landscape Partnership Scheme.

The past nine months has been very successful, there was lots going on behind the scenes to develop the projects and a number of exciting events. A seed-gathering weekend was held in October 2007, then in November an open evening at Wyre Forest Discovery Centre was enjoyed by residence of Wyre Parishes, with display boards about the Scheme and staff on hand to discuss the projects.

In January 2008 the Partnership held a seminar at Worcestershire University about the Hidden History of the Wyre Landscape. Speakers focused on the Forest of the Past, LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging). Guest speakers enthused the audience with historic nuggets. The evening was excellent and gave us all an insight into how the landscape looked in times gone by.

The second Seed Gathering Festival in October 2008 was a great success, with over 36 varieties of apples identified, well over 200 apples juiced.
