Study Opportunities at Alice Holt

Study Opportunities at Alice Holt for students in Key Stages 3 and 4

At Alice Holt students can undertake studies and take part in activities to complement classroom work in many curriculum subjects. A visit to the woods can help to bring a subject to life and gives students some real life experience. Woodland visits are particularly appropriate for work in the following subject areas

Geography
Secondary school group engaged in stream studies in a woodland environment. The forest is an ideal location for work in many aspects of the subject including practical mapwork, location studies, environmental awareness, soil studies and river basin studies.

Science
Many aspects of science can be studied in the forest and the location is particularly suitable for habitat studies.

CitizenshipTeam building tyre challenge
Students can learn about citizenship through Woodland Park studies involving role play and decision making, and through taking part in Team Challenges aimed at encouraging co-operation and respect (see Team Tactics on the 'Off the shelf programmes' page).

Education for Sustainable Development
This is a particularly relevant subject for visits here as the forest has to be managed to cope with the potentially conflicting  demands of recreational development, timber production and conservation.
