As the Forestry Commission in the East of England we:

  • Give grants to create new woods, and to manage existing woodlands;
  • Issue licences for the felling of trees and undertake Environmental Impact Assessments for those wishing to remove trees or plant new woodland;
  • Investigate reports of illegal felling;
  • Work with parties on a number of exciting and important projects;
  • Give strategic advice to planners and decision makers on the role of trees and woodland; and
  • Manage over 25,000 hectares of woodland in the region.

Our work is largely influenced by the Regional Woodland Strategy.
