What's on at Bedgebury
 

Bedgebury National Pinetum & Forest is again offering a rich and varied programme View over Marshal’s lake. Bedgebury pinetum. Kentof special events.

The list below shows the events planned for 2008. All events need to be booked and charges vary.  The normal £7.50 (from April) car parking fee applies.   The list of events below is still provisional - please keep referring to the website for more detailed information:

Use your Senses

We’ll help you to experience Bedgebury to the full. Come prepared to sniff, touch, listen and see Bedgebury in a whole new way. £5 per young person

Natural Art trail

Weds 13 Aug 10am-12noon 4-6 years

Thurs 14 Aug 2pm-4pm 4-6 years

Get inspired by Bedgebury’s trees and create some natural masterpieces. £5 per young person 

Families learning to orienteer.Orienteering family challenge

Weds 13 Aug 2pm-4pm 7-12 years

Thurs 14 Aug 10am-12noon 7-12 years

Can your family manage maps? Are you natural navigators? Take the challenge in this fun event and see if your family can complete our orienteering course. £5 per young person

Autumn Seeds

Sat 4 Oct 11.30am-12.30pm all ages

Sat 4 Oct 1.30pm-2.30pm all ages

This is your chance to collect seed from Bedgebury’s famous trees, and pot up a seed to take home. £2 per young person

The Big Draw at BedgeburyThe Big Draw

Tues 28 Oct 11am-4.30pm all ages

The Big Draw is the UK’s biggest free art event with over a million people getting back to the drawing board. Come to our drop-in, all-day event and be part of Bedgebury’s contribution to this national sensation. Free drop-in art event

Christmas Crafts

Sat 6 Dec 10am-12noon 4-6 years

Sat 6 Dec 1pm-3pm 7-12 years

A medley of Christmas craft activities outdoors in the Pinetum and indoors creating Christmas gifts and generally having fun!   £5 per young person

ADULT EVENTSCyclists on an off road section of trail.

Go-MTB at Bedgebury - 28th June & 12th July

The club is organising a four race series of mountain bike racing at Bedgebury Forest under British Cycling rules. Please see cycling page for more details.  Racing will start at 11 am on 28 June and 12 July.

REGULAR EVENTS

Health Walks

Come along and join our friendly group and enjoy the sights, sounds and smells whilst getting fit. No experience required and you will be encouraged to walk at your own pace. Wheelchair and pushchair friendly. No booking required, please meet at the visitor centre. Please wear suitable clothing and footwear.

NEW!! - Beginners Health Walk - Last Friday of each month - 10amLess able couple making use of a Tramper to get around the forest trails.

This walk is designed to for those people who are not used to walking and would like to start gradually. It is also for those people who would find the moderate walk difficult. Walks last approximately 30 mins to 1 hour and we will cover between 1 and 4 km (0.5 and 2.5miles).

Moderate Health Walks - Every Friday - 10am

This walk is designed for those people who want to walk a little further and a quicker pace than the Beginners walk. All walkers are still encouraged to walk at their own pace but we do venture out further into the forest. Walks last approximately 1 hour to 1 hour 30 mins and we cover between 4 and 6 km (2.5 and 3.7 miles).

OTHER ACTIVITIES

Go ApeGo Ape. Flying high over the forest on a zip wire.

Take to the trees and experience an exhilarating course of rope bridges, Tarzan Swings and zip slides up to 35 feet above the forest floor. Share approximately three memorable hours of fun and adventure, which you’ll be talking about for days.  Minimum age 10 yrs. Mininimum height 1.4m. Under 18s must be accompanied by a participating adult.
