Register of grant scheme and felling applications

Changes to online register of grant scheme and felling applications
From the end of September 2006, changes were made to the way information about grant scheme and felling applications is accessed online.  The document Register of grant scheme and felling applications - Updated Online Service (2080k - pdf) gives further details about using this new facility online.

To see the online register, click on the link below to go to a map page where you can select any Forestry Commission Conservancy area.

Go to the register of grant scheme and felling applications >>

When you click on an area of the map you will see a screen listing cases for that area currently at consultation and those that have completed the consultation process and have been approved (see Asking for more information below).  This screen is divided into 3 sections:

  • Search by Region/Conservancy
    This section allows you to change the search results by selecting another Conservancy or find cases listed in Glade Public Register Search Results by a Local Authority area.

  • G&L Online Register
    This area lists cases that have been input into our new G&L Online system and inludes Better Woodlands for Wales (BWW) applications.  This list is updated daily.

    • Viewing case details
      Click on the case reference to get summary information about the case.  You can also view a Case Report that gives more information as a PDF and a map.  You will need Adobe Acrobat Reader 6.0™ or above to see this.
    • Submitting comments
      Use the submit comments button to complete the electronic form.  You can also post your comments to the Conservancy office – use the address given in the Case Report.

  • Register of New Planting and Felling
    This list contains details of all other cases input from our older systems.  These include Woodland Grant Scheme, Energy Crops Scheme, felling licence applications and some BWW cases input before 25th September.  This list is updated weekly.

    • Viewing case details
      In addition to the information in the table, you can also view a map by clicking on the case reference. If you would like further details, contact your local Conservancy Office and quote the reference number.
    • Submitting comments
      E-mail or post your comments to your local Conservancy office.

Eventually all cases will be listed under G&L Online Register.  Online help is available - just click the help icon.  Here you will also find explanations of the codes used in the case listings.  To exit any part of this application, select the Back button at the top left of the screen.

Asking for more information
Cases marked on the register with the status Consultation (or FPR - Firm Proposals on  WGS Public Register Search Results) and are displayed on the Register for 28 days (the consultation period). During this period, FCW will invite comments from statutory consultees and will supply further details of an application on request to other interested parties.

The status of a case changes to Approved (or FPR - Firm Proposals on  WGS Public Register Search Results) when an application has completed consultation and details are displayed again on the Register for information only.

  • E-mail, or write to the Forestry Commission Wales Conservancy Office, quoting the scheme reference number as displayed on the Register;
  • Copies of the application will NOT include personal information about the applicant (e.g. name, address, telephone number, amount of grant, etc);
  • If the copy is large or if copies are requested regularly, we may charge a fee for this service;
  • All comments received are considered, in consultation with the applicant and, if appropriate, the application may be amended or rejected.
  • Please note that most applications are for work that will take place on private land and permission may be required to enter the area. The inclusion of the area on the Register of grant scheme and felling applications does not change this requirement.

Forestry Commission Wales (FCW) publishes details of  planting and felling applications that it is prepared to approve on the Register of grant scheme and felling applications. This allows anyone with an interest in a particular application to make comments to FCW.  You have 28 days from the date that the case first appears on the Register to submit comments.
