 Wyre forest education centre near BewdleyLocated on the edge of the ancient Wyre Forest, the Wyre Forest Discovery Centre:
  • includes a brand new building demonstrating a range of green technologies, with landscaped surroundings incorporating sensory and wildlife friendly features;
  • has warm classrooms each with interactive displays about the forest, its wildlife and wider environmental issues such as climate change;
  • runs a wide range of programmes for schools which enhance the National Curriculum;
  • has been awarded the Learning Outside the Classroom quality badge
  • runs a wide range of recreational activities for children and families;
  • welcomes people of all ages and abilities;
  • is accessible for the disabled;
  • enables children to experience the natural world;
  • offers a practical 'hands on' approach to learning, including lively, interactive activities;

  • organises craft and wildlife focus events for adults.

The Discovery Centre comprises 2 buildings, (2 to 3 'classrooms'), each decorated with fascinating exhibits and displays relating to the forest or the wider environment in general, and which will stimulate the children's interest before they venture into the forest. The rooms can accommodate approximately 30 each, and have facilities for slide and Powerpoint presentations. The buildings or a sheltered covered area will be available for booked groups at lunchtime if the weather does not permit use of the picnic areas!

The Wyre Forest Discovery Centre team has been awarded the Learning Outside the Classroom Quality Badge, indicating that we provide a safe learning environment and offer high quality teaching and learning experiences.

What's of interest
