Ranger-led Activities at Beechenhurst Lodge 2011

 

 

Shelterbuilding - Key stages 1,2 and 3

Children will demonstrate practical skills and leadership qualities that you never knew they had when they build a shelter from natural materials.  Shelters are tested for 'waterproofness' at the end of the session to add a sense of urgency and excitement.

Environmental Art - Key stages 1,2 and 3

An activity walk around aparts of the famous Forest of Dean Sculpture Trail, followed by the oppurtunity to get creative and make natural sculptures.  This session can be extended to include other arty activities if required.

Wildlife Detectives - Key stages 1 and 2

Search for clues and play games to discover the animals, birds and trees that make up the forest environment.  Emphasis can be placed on habitats, minibeasts, trees or other related topics.

DeanQuest - Key stages 2 and 3

A simple orienteering course followed by a selection of team challenges to get your group working together, as well as learning all about the amazing Forest of Dean.

And brand new for 2011

Climate Change Challenge - Key stages 2 and 3

Learn about the importance of forests in helping to reduce climate change and about how everyone can make changes to reduce their own impact on the environment.

All the above Ranger-led activity sessions:

          - take place at Beechenhurst Lodge

          - cost £60 for a two-hour session (£100 for 2 sessions in one day)

           - are available all year round (mornings or afternoons)

           - include a free coach parking ticket for the day of your visit

Activities can often be adapted for older,younger or special needs groups - please ask!

Facilities at Beechenhurst Lodge include toilets, coach parking, picnic tables, BBQs, play area and a Loft available for hire in case of rain.
