Our structure

River Ystwyst at Hafod forestOur Management Board monitors the business systems and administrative arrangements of Forestry Commission Wales and its relationships with stakeholders.

Following a decision by Ministers in early 2004, the separate Forest Management Agency for FC Wales was re-integrated back into the parent department from 1st April 2004. This means that FC Wales operates under an integrated structure and serves as a department that has a major land management function.

The Assembly Woodlands are managed by our four Forest Districts and the Grants and Licences team for all non-Assembly owned woodlands operate from two area offices. A number of corporate and departmental functions including finance, human resources, policy development and communications are carried out from the National Office for Wales in Aberystwyth.

FC Wales is also supported by the Woodland Strategy Advisory Panel (WSAP), which acts in an advisory role to both Ministers and Forestry Commissioners on the implementation of Woodlands for Wales and its periodic reviews
