The New Forest is a wonderful place for quiet enjoyment and peaceful relaxation. There is so much you can do from picnics or barbecues in purpose built areas to a gentle stroll or a jog along the many forest tracks, or perhaps you'd enjoy some bird or deer watching. Here at the New Forest, there is something for everyone to enjoy.

Whether you are interested in activities such as cycling, walking and horse riding, visiting the local villages, finding a quiet spot to sit and watch the world go by or exploring the local area.  These pages will guide you thorough some of the things which you can do in the New Forest.  

If you are a visitor to the New forest or a local resident the New Forest Official Tourism website is worth a visit.  This site has information on accommodation, public houses, local shops and things to see and do.

Getting Around the Forest

Train

There are  four train stations in the forest at Ashurst, Brockenhurst, Sway and New Milton. Contact National Rail Enquiries for train times on 08457 484950, or visit the Trainline website for more infromation.

Bus

The Blue Star and Wilts and Dorset bus networks run through out the New Forest linking the major villages and towns. 

During the suimmer months there is  also the New Forest Tour. This open top bus stops at Lyndhurst, Lymington, Beaulieu and Brockenhurst, connecting with train stations and the Isle of Wight Ferry.

Cycling

The New Forest cycle network covers over 100 miles and links the main New Forest Villages.  These routes involve a mixture of cycling on gravel tracks and on roads.  For more information on cycling in the New Forest please click here.

If you do not wish to bring you own bicycle with you there are a number of cycle hire outlets across the Forest.
