Footpath construction, Coilhallan Forest near Callander

Tenders are invited for footpath construction work in Coilhallan Forest near Callander.  The path will be created using as-dug material and will be no longer than 500m. The anticipated start date for the work is 10th November 2008.

Build new office accommodation, install wood fuel boiler and improve façade of Visitor Centre

Tenders are invited from Contractors who can demonstrate Membership of Professional Bodies. All tenders must be accompanied by examples of relevant project experience of this type and magnitude of work.

Cowal & Trossachs Forest District manages the existing David Marshall Lodge Visitor Centre (DML) at Aberfoyle and intends to upgrade the facilities through the following work:

  • Construct a new building adjacent to the DML, this will provide office accommodation for a local recreational provider and house a new wood fuel boiler.
  • Upgrade the façade of the DML building to improve the access of the site for visitors.
    Install the wood fuel boiler and central heating system in the DML (this element could be a separate contract from the building)
  • The contract will start on the 1st November 2008 and must be completed by 31st March 2009.

Provision of Helicopter Services to Forestry Commission Scotland

Forestry Commission Scotland seeks expressions of interest from suitably qualified contractors who can demonstrate the experience, technical ability and reliability coupled with cost effective pricing for the provision of Helicopter Services throughout Scotland

This provision will cover, but not be restricted to, the following:-

  • Fire fighting including water bombing and the transport of personnel and equipment
  • Aerial photography
  • Inventory
  • VIP travel
  • Chemical spraying
  • Fertiliser application

Fire fighting services should be available 365 days a year. The remaining services should be available with 5 days notice.

Sites are primarily throughout Scotland, however Forestry Commission Scotland reserve the right to expand the scope of the contract to cover England and Wales.

The estimated total value of the projects to be awarded under this contract are £500,000, albeit the elements of the scope of work mean this may vary widely.

This contract will be awarded under a Government Framework Agreement.  Awarding the contract to one or more than one-supplier forms the basis of this type of agreement.

We anticipate that the Framework Agreement will be awarded for initially two years with an optional two-year extension.

Engineering Consultancy Services for Small Hydroelectric Schemes – Scotland

The Forestry Commission (FC) are seeking expressions of interest from suitably qualified and experienced hydro engineering consultants to help our Civil Engineering Unit with a number of small hydropower (<1MW) developments on FC managed land in Scotland.

The consultant shall be available to start in January 2009 and shall enable professional development of Civil Engineering staff on hydropower.

Contract - Chartered Mineral Surveyor Forestry Commission Scotland

Forestry Commission Scotland (FCS) wish to engage a Chartered Mineral Surveyor with appropriate experience and skills under a five year contract for the following work:-

  • To negotiate on behalf of FCS  terms and conditions for a contract  between FCS and a mineral exploration and mining company, an exploration Agreement and Lease of the right to mine for specific minerals on parts of the Forestry Commission Estate in Argyll.
  • To manage on behalf of FCS  the exploration Agreement and Lease entered into by FCS for a period of five years.

The  total value of the contract by way of fees to the successful tenderer payable by the mining company is likely to be in the region of  £15,000.

The Forestry Commission is seeking expressions of interest from suitably experienced office cleaning companies. The contract will provide an opportunity to provide cleaning at a three storey Government Building with multi-occupancy. The building has recently been the subject of an extensive refurbishment and the Forestry Commission wish to re-tender the cleaning contract.

The contract will be expected to run from early 2009 for one year (+1+1). The total three year contract will have an approximate value of £45k.
