Once you've reached a good level of fitness why not pick up the pace? Running will take you on to the next level and most forests and woodlands have a range of paths and trails that are perfect for a slow jog or a more challenging hill run. Some top tips: - start slowly! Run for 20 paces then speedwalk for 20 paces and gradually build up to a non-stop run;
- warm up properly and make sure you stretch at the end of a run;
- invest in good running shoes - your feet will thank you for it;
- carry plenty of water; and
- run with a friend - it's safer and you can encourage each other.
