Most trails clear though higher trails may still be affected by ice and snow.  Watch out for occasional icy patches at lower levels.

All car parks are now open again.

We are providing additional updates on the 7stanes blog while the weather is bad as conditions are changing all the time. You can also call the local MTB rangers - numbers provided below.

Glentrool - No change at 9th February 

Warning: Harvesting will be taking place on the purple route at Glen Head (post 46) and on the Old Edinburgh Road (posts 30 - 32) until end of February 2010. Please take extra care and obey warning signs.

Trails: all open.

Conditions: Blue and Green trails completely clear. Still some patches of ice on some of the forest road near Loch Dee on the Big Country route.

Diversions: none.

Other: Visitor centre, cafe and toilets now closed for the winter, re-opening 11th March 2010. Telephone: 01671 840302.

Kirroughtree - No change at 9th February

Kirroughtree car park open.

Trails: all open. 

Conditions: Dusting of fresh snow and occasional ice patches.

Diversions: none.

Other: Visitor centre closed, reopens 11th March. Toilets remain open. From November to February, the Break Pad bike shop and hire centre is open 10am - 5pm, Wednesday - Sunday, closed Mon, Tues.

Dalbeattie - No change at 9th February

Richorn car park open.

Trails: all open.  Recent blue and red diversions now removed.

Conditions: Car park open. Some fresh snow which might be deep at higher levels. Look out for icy/frosty patches at all levels. Call the FC ranger service on 01387 860247 for latest details.

The trail and log after The Eye of the Needle suffers from flooding in prolonged wet weather. If this is the case, please proceed with care.

Diversions: none.

Mabie - No change at 9th February

Car park open.

Trails: Mabie Ridge section now open. Vaders' Lair section of Kona Darkside is currently closed.  There is still timber sitting at the roadside near Loch Arthur, so please give way to timber lorries and do not pass until signalled to do so by operator.

Conditions: Small scattering of snow which might be deeper higher up.  Look out for occasional icy patches. Some soft and muddy areas.

Diversions: Short diversion at Vader's Lair on the Kona Dark Side. See the Vader's Lair diversion map (PDF 219k). 

More info: The Shed is open 4 days a week: Friday to Monday, 9.00am to 5.00pm, and every 2nd Thursday 7.00pm to 9.00pm for night riding. Please confirm Thursday nights with Jemma at The Shed no later than the Monday of the same week.

Ae - No change at 9th February 

Car parks open. 

Trails: All trails open.

Conditions:  Small scattering of snow which might be deeper higher up.  Look out for occasional icy patches. Trails will be muddy and wet in places when the ground thaws out. Contact the FC ranger service on 01387 860247 for latest details.

Diversions:  diversion at the Naze car park, on the green, blue and red routes which affects the inward and outward routes from post 4 - post 6.  There's also a short diversion around the Bombhole on the section of trail from post 20 to 21 on the red route. There is also a small section been taped off after the bridge at the end of The Edge to avoid a small area that’s been washed away, but its less than 20yards.

More info: The café will be closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays until further notice due to the weather conditions. Otherwise open every day from 9.00am to 5.00pm.

Glentress - No change at 9th February

The Buzzards Nest and Red Squirrel car parks and access road up to them have reopened.

Hub café and bike shop opening hours are currently 10.00am - 6.00pm Wednesday - Friday and 9.00am - 6.00pm Saturday and Sunday. Closed on Mondays and Tuesdays in January.

Trails: all open except for Wallrides section in Freeride Park (reopening date TBC) and two of three raised timber trail lines on Essentials Freeride Trail (closed for grip painting).

Conditions: Lower trails (trailhead - Buzzards Nest height): clear of snow/ice except odd patches.  Middle level trails: mostly clear of snow/ice, some larger patches remain.  Highest level trails (e.g. Spookywood loop, Black Route): 3-8 inches of snow remain (deeper where drifted).  See http://7stanes.blogspot.com for more detailed report.

Diversions: Red/Black Route diversions due harvesting will resume shortly, date TBC. Very short diversion at Ewok Village on Black Route just after post 90 to post 92 (start of Double X).

Innerleithen - No change at 9th February

DH Trails: Snow now clear on most DH trails in trees, still snow/ice sitting on trails in more open areas.

XC Trails: All open.

Conditions: Lower trails mostly clear of snow/ice as are most DH trails in the trees.  Above the top road (post 18) still around 6 inches plus of snow/ice.  Top Minch Moor loop still deep in snow - not recommended.

Diversions: None.

Uplift:  Next uplift dates are: 13th - 14th Feb and 6th - 7th March. Online booking available at www.upliftscotland.com. For more information contact Tally on 07709 144299.  Food and drink available on site on uplift weekends.

Newcastleton - No change at 9th February

Trails: All open.

Conditions: Trails now clear of snow/ice, although odd patches may remain in sheltered spots.

Diversions: None.

Other: Café at trail head closed, though excellent café facilities available in Newcastleton village. Contact Alan, the ranger, on 07870 595735 for more information.
