Information about the register of grant schemes and felling
Forestry Commission Scotland (FCS) welcomes comments about felling and planting applications during the four week period in which details are displayed on the register.
Using the registerOn accessing the register, you’ll see a map page where you can choose any Forestry Commission conservancy area to search. Click an area on the map, or use the text links on the right of the page. You will then see a screen listing the cases for that area currently at consultation. Cases are listed under two headers: - Glade Public Register Search Results: these are cases that have been input into the revised Grants and Licences Online system which at present does not hold details of applications in Scotland.
- WGS Public Register Search Results: all other cases are held in this list, including all applications in Scotland.
Viewing case detailsYou can see details of each case by clicking on the reference number link in the first column of the table. When do applications appear on the register?Only details of those cases that the Forestry Commission is prepared to approve are displayed on the register. These cases are marked as "FPR". The status changes to "CNT" when we approve the application and details are again displayed. Please note that most applications are for work that will take place on private land and permission may be required to enter the area. The inclusion of the area on the Register of Woodland Planting and Tree Felling does not change this requirement. Submitting comments - The register is updated weekly, usually on a Monday morning
- Details about individual cases are displayed on the register for 28 days
- During this period, FCS welcomes comments on applications
- For cases under the WGS Public Register, submit comments to the relevant Forestry Commission Scotland Conservancy office by email or in writing
- FCS will take these into account as part of the approval process and may also discuss them with the applicant
- All comments received are considered, in consultation with the applicant and, if appropriate, the application may be amended or rejected.
