Forestry Commission Scotland (FCS) maintains three public information registers:
- The register of grant schemes (formerly contained felling proposals)
- The Register of Felling Licence applications
- The register of Environmental Impact Assessments
Register of grant schemes and felling
The most commonly displayed applications are for:
- Woodland Creation, now under Rural Development Contracts – Rural Priorities Amendments to WGS and SFGS cases
- Applications to prepare Forest Plans under RDC-RP Woodland Improvement Grant (including felling)
- Forest District Forest Design Plans (including felling)
When FCS is prepared to approve an application, we add the details of the case to the Register and these remain on it for four weeks. We display the case details again once we approve the application.

Register of Felling Licence applications
This register displays only details of Felling Licence applications in Scotland.
When Forestry Commission Scotland is prepared to approve a Felling Licence application, and the case reaches the Public Consultation stage, details about the application are automatically added this Register. The case details remain on this Register for a period of four weeks and will be displayed again if we approve the application.

Register of Environmental Impact Assessments
Under the Environmental Impact Assessment (Forestry) (Scotland) Regulations 1999, FCS must show the decisions it makes about whether proposals for certain forestry projects will have a significant effect on the environment.

For those cases where consent from FCS to carry out the work is required, details of two further stages are displayed:
- When the applicant arranges a scoping meeting; and
- FCS' final decision on whether or not consent will be given to start the work
