Forestry Commission library
The Forestry Commission’s Library is located at the Forest Research Station, Alice Holt Lodge. It provides a comprehensive scientific and technical information service for those interested in trees and forestry in Great Britain.
We provide a photocopy and loan service to:
- Forestry Commission staff
- Staff on secondment to the Forestry Commission
- Organisations that receive funding from the Forestry Commission
- Individuals with a Forestry Commission contract or undertaking research for the Forestry Commission.
We lend books to other libraries through the British Library Inter-Library Loan Scheme and advise students to use their own College/University Library to obtain items, or the general public their Public Service Library.
There is a reciprocal arrangement with other Government departments or agencies for photocopies or loans.
Access to the library
The Library is open to everyone as a personal visitor to study, read and photocopy, though we do charge for photocopies.
References and reading list
- Anyone can request a list of references and it is supplied without charge.
- A reading list is sent outside the Forestry Commission to Community Forests in England, and to a number of academic institutions and academics involved with forestry.
