Grants

 

The Forestry Commission offers grants to help towards the cost of planting and managing your woodlands.  Separate grant schemes are available in each country. Use the links below to get detailed information.

• English Woodland Grant Scheme
  

• Scottish Forestry Grants Scheme
  This scheme is now closed to new applications. A new Scottish Rural Development Plan (SRDP) will be introduced in 2008 and new forestry grants will be part of an integrated rural support system called Rural Development Contracts (RDC).
  
  Woodland Creation Measure 07/08
  Following a meeting of the Assessment Panel in September 2007, Forestry Commission Scotland has given the go-ahead to about 80 applications for a one-off measure to support woodland creation during the 07/08 planting season.  Landowners are currently preparing their formal applications that must be submitted by the end of October.

• We expect that all forestry work undertaken through any of our grant schemes meets the requirements of the UK Forestry Standard (974k - pdf) - the government's approach to sustainable forestry.
  
  
• Any forest operation can have a significant impact on the local area and amenity.  Therefore it is essential that you discuss your proposals for your woodland with your neighbours, or anyone who may have an interest in the land, before you start any work.
