How to apply
Closure of programme to new potential projects. Please note that Cydcoed has now allocated all of the £12M available in grants to community groups and is therefore closed to new project ideas. Any new potential applicants not already on Cydcoed's books are advised to look elsewhere for funding. Advice on alternative funding should be available from your local County Voluntary Council, which can be reached via the Wales Council for Voluntary Action Helpdesk at www.wcva.org.uk, help@wcva.org.uk, 0870 607 1666. Landowners seeking funding for woodland management can try Forestry Commission Wales Better Woodlands for Wales grant scheme via http://www.forestry.gov.uk/forestry/infd-5z8jqk, 0845 604 0845. Good luck, sorry we can't help, and thank you very much for your interest in Cydcoed all the same. 1 Checklist
If you have an idea for a project check it against the checklist.
2 Let us know about your project
If the answer is or will be yes to all the questions in the checklist then let us know about your project. Anyone can put projects forward. You do not have to be from a community group to propose a project. A Project Officer will get in touch within 15 working days of us hearing from you. 3 Submit pages 1 - 2 of the bid form Send the draft to your Project Officer, estimates are OK. This will enable us to advise you if it is worth working on a detailed bid. We will make our decision by looking at contribution to outputs, cost, risks, and geographic distribution. There is no formal scoring system; no deadline for applications (but we aim to commit all the grant by end 2007); and no first come, first served system. We will promote the projects that in our judgement result in a programme with the greatest public benefit. If we tell you that it is worth working on a bid we are not making a formal commitment to fund your project. Formal commitment (or rejection) can happen only after you submit a complete bid.
4 Produce a detailed bid for funding
If it is worth taking your bid forward, work with your Project Officer to produce a full bid for funding.
5 Submit the bid
Send your completed bid to your Project Officer. The Cydcoed Programme Manager will assess the bid and make a recommendation to senior management of the Forestry Commission. If it is approved, we will send you back a contract to sign. If it requires further work the Project Officer will let you know. We will normally make a decision within 15 working days of receiving your bid. There is no deadline for bids. 6 Deliver your project Your Project Officer will monitor how it is going and help you achieve your aims. You claim the grant as you make progress on the project. 7 Enjoy your wood 8 Take the next step Your Project Officer will help you move onto the next stage of managing your project to make sure it continues to benefit the community.
