SCHOOL PARTY ON PATH NEAR WHINLATTER  FOREST PARK VISITOR CENTRE (Forestry Commission use only)Whinlatter is a great place for walking with unrivalled views across Bassenthwaite Lake , Derwentwater and Keswick and many miles of gravel roads, surfaced paths and tracks to explore. Each junction is marked with a numbered post which is shown on the Forest Park guide map making it easy to create your own route.


Try one of our breathtaking high level walks:-

  • Grisedale Pike - 3.5 miles - 4 hours - strenuous
  • Lords Seat & Barf - 5.0 miles - 4 hours - strenuous
  • Seat How - 2.75 miles - 2.5 hours - strenuous

  • Rabbit Run - 0.5 miles - 30 mins - easy but with some steep sections 
  • Fox Trot Food Web - 0.75 miles - 45 mins - easy but with some steep sections
