Forestry Commission Response
Hi, The woodpecker trail is a great walking trail, but we wouldn't recommend it as there are some sections which are rocky and rooty and so may be a bit of a bumpy ride. We do appreciate though that there are some very good pushchairs (and drivers) that would happily venture out along the trail. If you prefer a flatter and more surfaced trail, then can we recommend the Wren Trail which is 0.7 of a mile and also features our Stickman Activity Trail until October.

A lovely walk in winter sunshine with mom and dad and brother, they didnt need a map the trail was well marked "follow the green". we had great fun running in and out of the forest across the trails, it was extra muddy and we went from blue roan to a lovely shade of brown. It was a fantastic day out but not so good when we got back home---BATHTIME.!!!!!

Popped in on way home from working at a dogs home. An excellent walk with my dog with easy to read signs, almost impossible to get lost as long as you follow the green!! No need for maps. Will def be back to explore more of the forest very soon. This route took well under an hour (but I walk at a brisk pace)
