At Dimmingsdale the Forestry Commission has turned an aristocrat's dream into a delight for everyone. Magnificent drives built by the Earl of Shrewsbury have been incorporated in the Valley walk. Visitors to this North Staffordshire beauty spot can now stroll where fine carriages once carried gentry on pleasure trips. The rolling hills and dramatic sandstone outcrops make a visit to this woodland a delight at any time of the year. The terrain is steep in some places but low level strolls around the magnificent pools are popular with many visitors. Some of the land is in private ownership and visitors are asked to respect this.
The Ramblers Retreat offers a wide range of refreshments in a relaxed licensed restaurant. The spacious car park, permissive way marked walk and beautiful surroundings make this a popular destination for walkers.
