Forestry Commission Response

Dear sirs, We like to park on grass and picnic next to the car, are you able to suggest places in Hampshire and Surrey where this is possible please? Thank you

Chris, 21/Jun/2014

Thank you for your comment. As nice as it is to be able to park on the grass and have a picnic it is not permitted to park off of designated car parking areas on Forestry Commission land, as this is in breach of the Forestry Commission byelaws. However the Forestry Commission does provides a 130 designated car parks in the New Forest and many more across the larger district, encompassing Hampshire and Surrey. In many of the locations you are able to park in the car park with a grass area adjacent to have your picnic. Details of some of these locations can be found on our National website; www.forestry.gov.uk/visit. Just enter the area you wish to visit in the search box under “Find A Forest”.
