This centre, on the site of an old colliery, is the ideal place to start your cycling adventure.
Enjoy a gentle ride through the forest on the Family Cycle Trail or test your skills on one of our MTB or downhill trails.
On your bike!
Cannop Cycle Centre is the starting point for the Forest of Dean Family Cycle Trail which consists of eleven miles of waymarked, surfaced tracks.
Tree harvesting is being carried out in the area around the Cycle Centre as part of the Forestry Commissions normal forest management.
We aim to keep disruption to a minimum and keep you informed of closures.
Some of the unofficial wild trails maybe closed but all official trails are currently open as normal although there maybe some tree brash or damage to the trails.
A temporary diversion will be in place at the start/finish of the Verderers trail from Wednesday 1st February for approximately 2 days whilst materials are transferred to the new pump track area. The rest of the trail will be open as normal.
Please help us by adhering to all signage and harvesting staff during this period so we can get the trails open as quickly as possible.
Please check the FC website and other local bike social media for updates.
As well as hiring bikes, Pedalabikeaway also offers refreshments, toilets and a bike workshop. Contact Pedalabikeaway on 01594 860065 for further details.
Beechenhurst Lodge is a short 5 minute cycle ride over the bridge at the start of the Family Cycle Trail.
A number of cycle events are held on site each year. Parking will be limited on these days. On these occasions we recommend that visitors using the Family Cycle Trail should park at Beechenhurst Lodge which is a just a few minutes away.
Other events such as the Wyedean Car Rally (November) and Half Marathon (March) will affect the trails.
The number of cycle events run from the Cycle Centre have been limited to 10 a year. To apply to run an event here in 2018, please e mail the Forestry Commission firstname.lastname@example.org

We cycled on the family trail and cannot fault the trail at all. Unfortunately when we got back down at app 2pm and tried to buy food it was all sold out. This really put a downer on what would have been a brilliant day out.Would have thought weekends would be busy times therefore catered for accordingly
Forestry Commission Response
I am pleased to hear that you enjoyed your cycling but sorry to hear of your disappointment with food availability at the café - we will advise the café tenant of your comments. I have not heard of this happening before, thank you for letting us know.
