Enjoy parkrun, a 5km run in the beautiful surroundings of Sherwood Pines.
At this time of year the forest is teeming with wildlife. You can look out for birds roosting to keep warm and listen out for woodpeckers drumming on tree trunks with tawny owls hooting at night. You might also see signs of mammals such as foxes and badgers with plenty of muddy areas and damp soft ground to look out for tracks and prints.
What is parkrun
Parkruns are fun FREE weekly 5km timed events in a friendly environment, they take place across the country, and are open to runners of all ages and all abilities. Here at Sherwood pines, events take place every Saturday morning at 9am.
The route is 5km long primarily completed on the ‘Green’ Family Cycle Route and is a combination of trail and compacted stone paths and park roads. Although there will be marshals in place, please be aware that cyclists may be using these routes as well, so runners should be vigilant.
NB: Although run on the green cycle trail parkrun is an organised formal running event therefore participants must follow parkrun guidelines and codes.
Please check the Sherwood pines parkrun Facebook page for updates before you set off.
