Access to Visitor Centre - Height Barrier in Operation

As you may be aware there is evidence of illegal encampments on woodland sites within the Community Forest.

In response to this and on police advice we have closed our height barrier to secure our site at the Thames Chase Forest Centre.  The barrier restricts vehicles above 2 metres from entering our site. The lower gate will remain open and close at the normal displayed times.

As result; only delivery vehicles and pre-booked groups are being allowed access through the barrier.  If you are a community group travelling in a coach or minibus please contact the number on the gate to arrange access.  We ask that private vehicles above 2m find alternative parking in the local area.

We are sorry for the inconvenience this may cause.  As you may know, the car park is operated by Thames Chase Trust and if unauthorised access to the site occurred the potential damage and cost to the charity would be insurmountable.

Please note that during peak periods,  it may occassionally be necessary to close the site if the car park has reached its full capacity. In such instances we ask visitors to return later instead of queueing on Pike Lane as this creates a hazard to other road users.

Thank you.
