If you are thinking about holding any kind of organised group event on Forestry Commission Land you need to contact us so we can ensure you have a safe and successful event.
Initially we’ll just need a few pieces of basic information so we can assess the impact of your event and we’ll then be able to advise whether you need formal permission or not.

- How many participants could be involved.
- When you are planning to hold the event.
- Where would you like to hold the event.
- Your name and phone number so we can contact you.
For larger events such as a mountain bike race you may require a formal permission. We’ll let you know if this is the case and we’ll ask to fill in an application form with more details.
If your event is small and doesn’t require formal permission there won’t be any charge. For larger events we charge to cover the administration costs associated with granting permission and to generate income to reinvest into our forests and facilities. Our charges start at £50 to cover administration costs and will vary depending on the number of participants and facilities you require.
