Business opportunities for Education and Learning Provision

The Forestry Commission is committed to providing education and learning opportunities for as many people as possible across the public forest estate in England. One aspect of the FC’s Learning Strategy  (April 2015), is to develop opportunities for external learning providers to run their businesses on the estate.

The Forestry Commission is advertising business opportunities for learning provision at two thriving visitor sites.

These opportunities will require providers who are skilled environmental educators (whether sole traders, new or existing businesses, or accredited to a national organisation) to tender to deliver curriculum linked activities for education groups of all ages.

Successful providers will be keen to grow their business to reach as many learners as possible. They will be expected to deliver FC learning messages (about how the public forest estate is managed sustainably for timber, people and wildlife) and will be given advice and help with this where needed.

The FC is inviting providers to submit a business plan, the purpose of which is to help us decide which applicants to invite to interview.

To find out more, please email the following contacts, depending on which site you are interested in:

Haldon Forest, Devon – haldon.rangers@forestry.gsi.gov.uk

Beechenhurst and Wenchford, Forest of Dean – westengland@forestry.gsi.gov.uk

Open Mornings to discuss the opportunity will be held at Haldon Forest Park on Monday 6th February and Beechenhurst on Wednesday 8th February (booking required).

The closing dates for submission of business plans will be mid-February 2017 (exact dates will be confirmed by the contacts above).

Expressions Of Interest for ticket agents

Primary ticket agents for our Live Music programme.

Interested parties will be considered on a number of factors, including:

  • Database size
  • Sales experience relevant to our product (genre)
  • Geographical area served
  • Credit history
  • Ability to use FC ticket stock (no e-tickets)
  • Stance on the secondary sales market

Decisions will be made depending on opportunities available, which may be limited by existing ticket agents. Please note there is a maximum number of agents we are able to work with at any one time so opportunities may not always be available.

Please visit our Live Music programme for further information.

Expressions of interest in this work can be made at any time by contacting boxoffice@forestry.gsi.gov.uk

Expressions Of Interest are invited for commercial marketing partnerships

We are continually looking for commercial marketing partnerships and sponsorship that meet our marketing objectives.

We have a range of events that can be sponsored and we are happy to talk to companies and organisations about innovative ways to explain who we are and what we do and promote our sites to their customers.

Our objectives are:

  • Inform people about our work
  • Raise awareness of our sites, events, activities and membership
  • Raise awareness of the importance of trees, woods and forests

We have recently worked with companies to promote our forest and activities via their websites and apps. We would be interested in hearing about other similar opportunities.

Expressions of interest in this work can be made at any time by contacting marketing@forestry.gsi.gov.uk.
