Art installation - Leigh Woods 'WITHDRAWN' - art installation

Nestled in Leigh Woods visitors might be surprised to come across a flotilla of fishing boats in the middle of the forest. The boats are 'Withdrawn', an art installation by well known artist Luke Jerram, who works all around the world.

This installation is designed to encourage people to reflect upon the impact humanity is having on our seas and the decline of the fishing industry in the south West. It is also in response to the extreme weather the world has faced recently, such as hurricanes, tsunamis and floods.

We manage Leigh Woods jointly with the National Trust who are supporting this exciting arts installation. As well as hosting the boats, the Forestry Commission's Forest Art Works is also supporting it. Forest Arts work is a new partnership between Arts Council England and Forestry Commission England to support achieving great art and culture for everyone in England's public forests.
