The Forestry Commission Scotland (FCS) Map Viewer allows you to explore and discover information about Scotland’s woodlands and forests. You can display a variety of features on the map and get detailed information about these features.

What information can I see?
You can view a wide variety of Forestry Commission Scotland datasets, for example, national forest estate boundaries.
How do I use the FCS Map Viewer?
Map legend
You can toggle the map legend on and off using the legend button.
Layers
Layers of information are organised into folders shown to the right hand side of the map window. To see a specific layer or layers, simply click on a folder to open it and display its content.
Navigation
Navigation buttons allow you to zoom in and zoom out of the map and display an area of interest.
You can use the pan tool to drag the map to a new area.
For more specific locations, the find button allows you to search by place name, postcode or grid reference.
Information on features
An identify tool is available. Select this then click on a feature on the map to see more information about that feature.
Measuring lengths and areas
There are also tools available for you to measure lengths and areas on the map.

Some basic hints are available by clicking the hints option below the list of folders. More detailed help is available via the help option at the top right hand corner of the screen.
