This is a fixed term appointment for 2 years (extension of the contract, conversion to permanency or transfer to another part of the civil service is possible although there is no guarantee)
The post holder will be based at the Forestry Commission Wales National Office, Aberystwyth but some flexibility in location may be agreed (if the post holder is based elsewhere then two days per week will be spent working from Aberystwyth)
For an exciting opportunity in policy development, you’ll work with a vibrant team to support the development of forestry and environment policy and programmes.
With a sound knowledge of the strategic and legislative drivers for sustainable forest management and wider environmental issues and priorities, you’ll be able to demonstrate an appreciation of the need for evidence-based policy making and the role which well-designed research plays in developing effective policy and programme options. You must have a proven track record of working with others to manage and resolve the conflicts of interest which arise from managing land, preferably woodland, and of formulating and drafting written policy / programme / guidance. You’ll also be able to demonstrate experience of active and persuasive representation at working group level.
The ability to speak Welsh is not essential for this post; however appointees learning or wishing to learn Welsh will receive support from FC Wales
