The park is open all year round (apart from Christmas Day) from 8:00am till dusk. 

  • Winter Opening Times 8:00am-6:00pm October-March
  • Summer Opening Times 8:00am-10pm April-Sept
  • Please note the barriers will be locked and there is a release fee

Charges

Parking Charges apply all year round -

  • Cars £1 for 1 hour (short stay) or £4 per day
  • Minibuses £6 per day
  • Coaches Free (please contact us regarding group visits)
  • Motorcycles Free Compass on a map

A Discovery Pass can be purchased for year round parking for details visit. 

How to find us

Sherwood Pines Forest Park is located in the Heart of Sherwood Forest on the B6030 east of Kings Clipstone.

If coming via the bus take the number 14 or 15 to Kirton or Walesby from Mansfield bus station. They run every 1/2 hour Monday - Saturday and every hour on Sundays. Please check details with Stagecoach.

Parking

We have a large landscaped car park with good access to the visitor centre area. This is supplemented with larger surrounding car parks that are used for events and weekends.

Easy Access Parking Spaces are located within the main car park next to the main access paths.

Coach Parking is also available for visiting groups and schools.(please ensure you contact us before visiting as group charges may apply)
 
Please contact the Forest Office if you are intending on bringing a coach group, as space is limited at peak periods.

ToiletsInterior of Sherwood Pines Visitor Centre Café

Our toilet block is located between Go Ape and the Café and is open year round. Each Toilet has baby changing facilities.

Places to Eat

If you are hungry or thirsty after your forest adventure why not call in the Café for some refreshment. Open year round for fresh and seasonal food and drink.

Closure Information

Our aim is to keep Sherwood Pines open for customers to enjoy as normal. However if we close the Forest it is for the following reasons

1: Significant risk of injury to visitors

2: Significant risk of being trapped in the Forest

3: We are unable to provide adequate cover for the facilities and services.

 

Severe Weather Advice

When visiting Sherwood Pines during severe weather please:

1: Follow guidance regarding travelling www.highways.gov.uk

2: Wear suitable footwear and clothing

3: Consult local weather forecast before travelling

4: Follow directions and signs on site e.g. ice warning.

5: Be aware that weather conditions may change resulting in the forest being closed earlier than normal.

Driving on site during snowy conditions

We have limited resources to remove snow and ice and you should expect to be driving on slippery surfaces.

we advise:-

  1. Drive according to the conditions on the forest drive and in the car parks.
  2. Max speed 10 mph.
  3.  Slow acceleration, use low revs and a higher gear.
  4. Only brake if you cannot steer out of trouble.
  5. If you do not have ABS and you are skidding pump the brakes.

Walking on site

We do not treat any of the surfaces around the centre or in the forest and therefore you should expect surfaces to be slippery.

Play Equipment

Please take extra care during wintry weather as a lot of our play equipment is wood based and can become slippery.

Cycling on site

Cyclists should be aware that we might be unable to gain access to the Forest or the trails and therefore we cannot guarantee emergency assistance. Please check at Sherwood Pines Information Centre before setting out - 078 250 55241.

Clearly the conditions are likely to be slippery and there is a significant risk of falling from your bike. As always, we advise customers to ride in accordance to their skill level, the conditions and the suitability of their equipment.
