Extension of the contract, conversion to permanency or transfer to another part of the civil service is possible although there is no guarantee.

The Inventory, Forecasting & Operational Support (IFOS) is a new department within the Forestry Commission. It is responsible for the National Forestry Inventory, which describes the extent and nature of GB woodlands, ascertaining their well being and monitoring any changes and trends over time. Your role will involve the collection of forest and ownership data for the NFI.

The location of the post will be dependent on the successful applicant’s home location. This post may involve extensive travel throughout the UK and staying away from home, which will be reimbursed. The majority of the duties will require lone working in the forests.

You’ll have experience of conducting forestry/ecological surveys and have a working knowledge of MS Office, GIS systems such as ESRI Arc products and have a precise and methodical approach to your work. This post requires a driving licence that enables you to drive in the UK and a FC vehicle may be available.
