MOWING AND VEGETATION MANAGEMENT ON THE DELAMERE BEAT

The Forestry Commission is inviting tenders for Mowing on the Delamere Beat.

A contractor or contractors are required to undertake mowing of track and path edges, open space habitats and recreational area mowing.

The work is required on a variety of woodland sites across Cheshire, Merseyside, Manchester and Wigan.

The estimated total value of the contract is £90,000, including a potential 1 year extension period.

The anticipated contract start date will be 16th March 2015 to be completed by 31st March 2016.  A 1 year extension will be available based on the performance during the first year.

THE DESIGN AND BUILD OF TREE NURSERY FACILITIES AT DELAMERE NURSERY, CHESHIRE

We intend to award a contract for The Design and Build of Tree Nursery Facilities.

This procurement follows a Prior Information Notice that was published in the Official Journal of the European Union reference 2014/S 203-358712

The Forestry Commission’s Delamere Nursery currently has two sites, Lobslack and Old Pale, where tree seedlings and cuttings are grown in polytunnels.   Each site has approximately 1.2 ha under polythene, in a variety of different sized tunnels.   It is the intention to consolidate all our covered growing facilities at the Lobslack site, extending the area and amalgamating the 32 tunnels now at Old Pale into one large, multispan structure; modernising and upgrading the facilities in the process.

In addition, as part of business sustainability, there will be rainwater harvesting from the roof of the structure into a purpose-built lagoon.   The lagoon is not part of this tender.

Before the return date, tenderers are invited to have a site visit so that they can complete their submission.  Site visits will take place for two weeks from the 2nd February, 2015 and tenderers should contact Alan Harrison at alan.harrison@forestry.gsi.gov.uk

MACHINERY STORE, SUPERSTURCTURE PACKAGE WESTONBIRT, THE NATIONAL ARBORETUM INVITATION TO TENDER

The Forestry Commission is inviting tenders for construction of its new machinery store at Westonbirt, the National Arboretum.

Construction of the concrete yard including ground slab, foundations and drainage has been tendered under a separate contract and is currently under construction and will be completed before this contract begins. This superstructure contract will follow on and will include the fabrication of the main timber frame, installation of 8 large industrial doors, roofing and fixing the timber cladding and polycarbonate wall. There is also a requirement to recruit and manage volunteers or trainees in part of the build.

A bidder briefing day will be held at Westonbirt on 2nd  February 2015. It is advisable to attend to see the construction site, the access constraints and to raise enquiries with the architects and engineers.

The estimated total value of the contract is £190,000.

The anticipated contract start date will be 30th March 2015. We anticipate the contract programme to take 4 months but the final programme will be defined by the contractor.

SSSI WETLAND RESTORATION WORKS IN THE NEW FOREST
FRAMEWORK NO: 304/HLS/15/1114

We will be awarding framework agreements for SSSI Wetland Restoration Works in the New Forest, part of the South England Forest District.
Our intention is to award 3 Framework Contracts to deliver the programme of SSSI restoration work for a period of 4 years from the 5th May 2015.

The typical works will include:
• Meander restoration
• Bed level raising / partial drain infill and narrowing using hoggin/rejects
• Bed level raising / partial drain infill and narrowing / drain infill using heather bales
• Complete drain infill
• Debris dam creation
• Ford construction

For the first year of the contract a total of 7 Works Packages have been designated at the following locations:-
1) Harvestslade, 2) Amberslade & Broomy Inclosure, 3) Pondhead, 4) Cowleys, 5) Picket Mire, 6) Corbets Hat Mire, Woodcrates Mire, 7) Longbeech Mire.

WOOD WARDEN SERVICES AND TOILET CLEANING
FOREST OF BERE SOUTH ENGLAND DISTRICT

We will be awarding a contract for Toilet Cleaning at West Walk, Wood Warden Services at West Walk and Creech Woods (Daily opening and closing of security barriers, litter collection, Toilet block locking/ unlocking and cleaning).

Our intention is to award this contract for a period of three years.
Break points are available within the Contract at the end of the first and second year of the contract period, at which time we will decide on whether the Contract will continue.

The decision on whether to use the break points will be at our discretion and we will base it on the following factors: performance, consistency, budget availability, customer satisfaction.

Ranger available on request for site visit, Monday to Friday 8am to 4pm between January 19th and February 2nd 2015.

The estimated total value of the contract is £55- 70,000

GRASS CUTTING – SOUTH YORKSHIRE BEAT CENTRAL ENGLAND FOREST DISTRICT INVITATION TO TENDER

The Forestry Commission is inviting tenders for grass cutting on 8 sites in South Yorkshire. The work will consist of amenity cuts and an annual conservation cut plus ditch maintenance.
The sites are spread across Barnsley (Cudworth Common, New Park Springs, Phoenix Park and Wombwell), Doncaster (Bentley and Brodsworth) and Rotherham (Dinnington and Kiveton). They are all Community Woodlands on former mining sites. 
The estimated total value of the contract is £75,000
The anticipated contract start date will be 23rd March 2015 to be completed by 30th November 2017. Break points are available within the contract at 1 year intervals at which time we will decide on whether the contract will continue.

PRE-HARVESTING SITE INVENTORY & PREPARATION FRAMEWORK – NORTH ENGLAND FOREST DISTRICT – INVITATION TO TENDER

Tenders are invited from suitably experienced, capable and competent contractors to carry out pre-harvesting surveying, assessment and preparation on clearfell, thinning and continuous cover (CCF) sites within North England Forest District.

Works will include timber crop stratification, mensuration and marking on sites across North England with the district divided into seven geographical locations.  These locations are; Hamsterley, Rothbury, Kielder Main North, Kielder Main South, North Lakes, South Lakes & North Lancashire.

The contract will be a framework and will be awarded on a 3 year basis with a break point at the end of year 2.

The estimated total value of the contract is £250,000.

The anticipated contract start date will be 1st April 2015 to be completed by 31st March 2018.
