East England Forest District (EEFD) has a need for suitably qualified contractors to undertake forest maintenance tasks across the Weald Beat and Bedgebury National Pinetum and Forest. The works will be awarded in six lots: Fencing, Planting and Spraying, Forestry Works, Recreation Vegetation Management, Machinery Operations – Vegetation and Machinery Operations – Ground Works.

A bidder day will be held at Bedgebury National Pintetum on the 3rd November 2014.

CLEANING SERVICES FOR PUBLIC AND OFFICE SPACES AND WINDOWS AT WESTONBIRT ARBORETUM INVITATION TO TENDER

The Forestry Commission is inviting tenders for cleaning of facilities at Westonbirt Arboretum for 2015-2018:

Lot 1: Will cover daily cleaning of all staff and public toilets, office spaces, staff kitchen and eating areas and the Great Oak Hall. It will also include provision of all cleaning equipment and supplies as well as all toilet paper and handtowels as necessary.

Lot 2: Will cover a quarterly clean of all windows on site, internal and external. 

Closing date for notification of interest is 4pm on Monday 8th December 2014

If a bidder day and/or site visits are to be carried out, then the EOI date must be before these activities happen, to ensure that all bidders have the opportunity to attend.

The estimated total value of the contract is £180,000

DESIGN AND BUILD OF A UNIQUE TREE HOUSE AND CLIMBING FOREST AT HIGH LODGE, THETFORD FOREST

The Forestry Commission is inviting tenders for the design and build of a unique Tree House and Climbing Forest at High Lodge, Thetford Forest.  The new play structure will be built and ready for use by 1st March 2015.

RE-ADVERTISEMENT FOR AN INVITATION TO TENDER FOR DRAIN BLOCKING AT NETHER BRACCO FOREST AND CARNWATH MOSS SCOTTISH LOWLANDS FOREST DISTRICT

The Forestry Commission is inviting tenders for drain blocking with felled conifer material, waste peat, constructed peat dams and composite dams in two lots one at Nether Bracco Forest (25Ha) near Caldercruix and the other at Carnwath Moss (56 Ha) near Carnwath.  This is part of a project to restore lowland raised bogs on the National Forest Estate during 2014/15 and both sites are bogs with peat in excess of 6m depth.

The estimated total value of the contract is £53,000

The anticipated contract start date will be 19th November 2014 to be completed by 13th March 2015.

INVITATION TO TENDER FOR SECURITY AND STEWARDING AT FOREST LIVE OUTDOOR CONCERTS 2015 TO 2018

The FC intends to award a framework contract for security and stewarding at Forest Live outdoor concerts. Concerts take place in June and July at seven forest venues throughout England over approx 24 dates per year.

Duties include managing entrance gates, backstage, pit and arena with appropriately trained and experienced SIA security staff and stewards.

The Forestry Commission’s focus is on delivering a safe and enjoyable event for concert-goers through excellent customer care and polite and friendly staff.

INVITATION TO TENDER: DIRECT PRODUCTION HARVESTING CONTRACTS IN THETFORD FOREST EAST ENGLAND FOREST DISTRICT

The Forestry Commission is inviting tenders for a direct production (DP) mechanised harvesting in East England Forest District.  The work is divided into two lots and will be to present timber at roadside to fulfil the requirements of our long term contracts.  Each lots total is 17600 tonnes per year (an estimated equivalent of 20000 m3OBS). The majority of the work is expected to be undertaken with purpose built machinery in a short-wood system.  There will be a small element of motor-manual capability required to support this work.

Our intention is to award these contracts for a period of 5 years starting on 1st April 2015.  There will be breakpoints in April 2018 and April 2019.

The estimated total value of the contract is £2.5million to £3.2million.

Each estimated lot volume over the whole contract  is 100000 obs m3 or 88,000 tonnes.

The contract start date will be 1st April 2015 to be completed by 31st March 2020. There will be break points at the 1st of April 2018 and 1st of April 2019

Our intention is to award this contract for a period of 5 years starting on 1st April 2015.  There will be a breakpoint in April 2018.

The estimated total value of the contract is between £840,000 and £855,000

The estimated contract volume is 60,000m3.

The contract start date will be 1st April 2015 to be completed by 31st March 2020.

FELLING AND CLEARANCE OF PHYTOPHTHORA AFFECTED TREES
EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST      

Forestry Commission England is inviting expressions of interest for contracts to undertake the initial cutting of tree crops affected by Phytophthora ramorum.
The work is to comply with felling notices that will be issued as and when diseased areas are confirmed. As yet there is no information about the final size or value of the clearance programme.
Under the Plant Health Act, Forest Enterprise is currently required to cut an as yet unknown area of predominantly larch crops in the South West, and North West of England to various deadlines up to April 2015.  The contracts will be to fell or clear young crops, to ensure that the trees cannot spread the disease.  Further working of the felled trees (conversion, extraction, stacking, etc) may be included.  Once felling notices are issued, the work areas will be tendered in several different sized Lots according to geographic, crop and terrain features.
We anticipate tendering work in Lots that will generally be in the range of £5.000 - £50,000.  The number of Lots is as yet unknown.
Commencement dates will be as soon as possible after contracts are awarded.  Time will be the essence of the contracts with full completion expected by the date agreed with the successful bidder.
