The successful developer in the NFEWFP tender process was npower renewables limited. The Welsh Government have now signed an Option Agreement with npower renewables limited giving them the exclusive right to seek planning permission. Should they be successful the Welsh Government will enter into a Development Lease, and subsequently a 25 year Operating Lease with npower.
This development is potentially in excess of 50MW and will probably therefore be dealt with by the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) as the Planning Authority.
Initially the developer will submit a scoping consultation to the Planning Authority outlining what impacts they will assess as part of their Environmental Impact Assessment. The Planning Authority will consult with its statutory consultees and then respond to the developer with a scoping opinion which outlines the issues they expect the developer to address in their planning application.
