The successful developer in the NFEWFP tender process was NUON UK Limited. The Welsh Government have now signed an Option Agreement with NUON UK Limited giving them the exclusive right to seek planning permission. Should they be successful the Welsh Government will enter into a Development Lease, and subsequently a 25 year Operating Lease with NUON.
This development is potentially in excess of 50MW and will therefore be dealt with by the Department of Energy and Climate Change(DECC) as the Planning Authority.
Initially the developer will submit a scoping consultation to DECC outlining what impacts they will assess as part of their Environmental Impact Assessment. DECC will consult with its statutory consultees and then respond to the developer with a scoping opinion which outlines the issues they expect the developer to address in their planning application.
