Releases/ publications - International - Forest Resources Assessment

FRA 2010

Full results of the Global Forest Resources Assessment 2010 were published by UN FAO in October 2010. These include the Main Report, Global Tables and Country Reports, as well as the Key Findings first published in March 2010.

The UK report published by FAO in 2010 is unchanged from the final draft UK country report that was approved by UN FAO in June 2009.

The UK was also responsible for reporting on British Overseas Territories and British Crown Dependencies, for which reports are available in the FRA 2010 Country Reports.

The reports for 2010 were compiled following the FRA 2010 Terms and Definitions, Specification of National Reporting Tables for FRA 2010 and Guidelines for Country Reporting to FRA 2010.

Most reporting is for the years 1990, 2000, 2005 and 2010 (forecast). The statistics for historic years as reported in FRA 2010 should be used in preference to statistics for these years reported in earlier FRA rounds.

FRA 2005

International results for Global FRA 2005 were published by UN FAO in November 2005, along with reports for 229 countries and territories. This includes a UK country report and separate reports for all British Overseas Territories and British Crown Dependencies.

FRA 2000 and earlier

For the year 2000, the initial compilation was the Temperate & Boreal Forest Resources Assessment (TBFRA). The UK data are available on request (spreadsheet not prepared for web publication), or can be extracted from the full TBFRA database.

The TBFRA 2000 data were then used in Global FRA 2000, with some updates and revisions.

The history of FRA since the first publication Forest Resources of the World (1948) is available on the UN FAO website.
