Kielder Observatory

Kielder Observator. Photographer Charles Barclay.

Kielder Observatory, designed by Charles Barclay Architects, is Kielder's most recent art and architecture project. Developed to provide a permanent base for the astronomers already taking advantage of Kielder's lack of light pollution, the Observatory is a striking example of functional contemporary architecture in a unique and breathtaking setting. Using power derived from wind and solar energy and bulit using timber from FSC certified sources, Kielder Observatory is an astronomical facility fit for the twenty-first century.

For details of events at the observatory this year, contact Bellingham Tourist Information on 01434 220616 or visit www.kielderobservatory.org for more information.
