The Forestry Commission delivers an unparalleled range of recreational facilities, environment management and support for private land owners.
Public Forest Estate
The public forest estate is land that is owned or leased by the Nation which we manage on behalf of the public. Much of it is forest but we also manage limestone pavements, sub alpine meadows, urban parkland, farms and lakes. We provide a huge range of facilities for people to enjoy which improves the health and well being of communities across the region.

Policy Grants and Licences
We provide support to private sector land owners through our Woodland Grant scheme which helps create new woodland, protects rare wildlife such as butterflies and Red Squirrels and helps manage existing woodland.
