Gender Equality Scheme
The Forestry Commission has been working for some years towards greater public engagement in many aspects of our work. The new gender duty will enable us to build on our achievements to date.
Our Scheme includes just a few examples of the many initiatives we have in place to broaden the range of visitors and the variety of recreational activities that take place in our woodlands and forests. We are also increasingly involved in partnership work with other organisations with the aim of supporting new health and exercise initiatives for men and women and supporting children’s education. Our Scheme identifies a number of areas for action in relation to our role as an employer. Our staff will contribute to this work and their views on priorities have been reflected in the action plan we have developed. Our trade unions will continue to provide a valuable perspective on the issues raised by their members. We will assess and provide information on outcomes and progress on the action plan annually. Comments are very welcome and contact details are provided.
