You and your dog can enjoy over two thirds of the arboretum!
Dogs are welcome in Silk Wood, on the Downs and in the main visitor area. The Old Arboretum is a dog free zone.
Silk Wood is a fantastic area to explore with your dog. You won't miss out on spring or autumn colour either, as amongst many other species Silk Wood contains the stunning Cherry Collection and the National Japanese Maple Collection.
We have dog-friendly guided walks around Silk Wood from March - June 2013. You can find out more on our events pages.
We ask that dogs be kept on a lead around the car parks, plant centre, shop and restaurant area and on the Downs.
Please do make use of the dog litter bins. We also have bowls of water next to the Visitor Services office in the main visitor centre area to keep your dog hydrated.
Dog Free Areas
We request that the Old Arboretum is respected as a dog free area - and there are good reasons for this. It's an area where families with small children go and the flat, broad paths appeal more to those using mobility scooters and parents with pushchairs, who may be more comfortable in an environment without dogs.
We also ask for dogs to be kept outside of the Westonbirt Restaurant, the Great Oak Hall, the shop and plant centre and the toilets.
Registered assistance dogs are welcome in all parts of Westonbirt Arboretum.
