The 7stanes arts project & competitions

The Gem Stane sculpture at 7stanes Kirroughtree

Southern Scotland's myths and legends are reflected in seven stone sculptures in place across the 7stanes mountain bike centres.  The sculpted 'stanes' (the Scots word for stone) are found out on the trails in prominent locations.  They're accessible on foot and by horse as well as by bike.

Find out more about the seven sculpted 'stanes'.

7stanes arts project competitions

To coincide with the creation of the stanes, we are running two competitions to encourage visitors to the 7stanes forests.  Follow the links below for full details.

And if you ride at all 7stane locations...

We also have 7stanes buffs to give away to the first 200 people who visit all the 7stanes sites  - simply take photographs of you and your friends at each of the trail heads or all of the new sculptures and email them to: Margaret.bryden@forestry.gsi.gov.uk.  Alternatively, post them on CD/DVD to: Margaret Bryden, Forestry Commission Scotland, 55/57 Moffat Road, Dumfries, DG1 1NP.

Please indicate whether you would be happy for us to feature any of your images on the website in future.

This offer runs until 31st March 2009 or until 200 successful entries have been received - whichever is sooner.
