The Northeast is blessed with having some of the most spectacular walking country in the whole of Britain, from forest to moorland and coastline to hilltop. A number of the best walks are in the region’s forests, where you can access trails that are graded and waymarked to a variety of abilities.
Alternatively, if you just enjoy wandering, the Forestry Commission freehold estate is the largest area of dedicated open access land, meaning you have access to these forests on foot at any time!
