Consultation on the EU Forest Action Plan
International Policy is seeking comments from stakeholders on the EU Forest Action Plan. The EU Forest Action Plan had its first presentation to the EU Agriculture Council on 19 June 2006 by the European Commission. The EU Forest Action Plan for 2007-11 is designed to improve the implementation of the 1998 EU Forestry Strategy. The EU Forest Action Plan aims to improve co-ordination and coherence between different policy areas in the Member States to deliver Sustainable Forest Management across the EU. The UK has supported the development of an EU Forest Action Plan, as a means to improve co-ordination and collaboration across the Commission and with member states. The Council is expected to respond to the European Commission in September, at which stage we will contribute the UK's position on the Action Plan. We would welcome your comments on the EU Forest Action Plan by July 31. Please send to frances.snaith@forestry.gsi.gov.uk and copy to mike.dudley@forestry.gsi.gov.uk Consultation Documents:
