Crynant Community Woodland, Crynant, Neath Port Talbot

Description – The site is located within the settlement of Crynant which itself is located within the Dulais valley and the Crynant Community Council area.

Work will include -

  • Establishment of a community woodland covering an area of approximately 2.5 hectares. Consisting of a mix of native hardwood trees, mainly whips with clusters of larger trees for immediate impact.
  • Provision for full public access (including less-abled) through the formation of woodland paths, incorporating recycled plastic ‘trim trail’.
  • Provision of a seating area within the woodland, enclosed by earth banks, and further demarcated with ground cover and formal tree planting - best described as a ‘natural amphitheatre’, to be used for informal gatherings and general enjoyment, e.g. Picnics, etc.
  • Establishment of a nature conservation area adjacent to the river Dulais, tree and shrub planting and short sections of boardwalk.
  • Creation of an activity area adjacent to woodland for BMX bike riding, consisting of grass seeded contoured earth banks.
