Mumbles Woodland Project, Mumbles

Description - The Mumbles Development Trust (MDT) is a not-for-profit trust; a membership organisation owned and managed by the local community. Mumbles is a large coastal village surrounded by a woodland border that separates Mumbles from the Swansea conurbation and gives Mumbles its identity and tourist appeal.  Most of this woodland urgently requires management.  Much is semi-natural broadleaf with areas classified as ancient woodland.  The project will allow for control of invasive species, habitat management, provision of access, interpretation, recreation and learning opportunities.

The project will provide a catalyst for the future sustainability of Mumbles Green Action Team (MGAT)’s Mumbles Woodland Enterprise (MWE) as a long-term social enterprise able to undertake a range of environmental improvement and management schemes for the local community as contracts in the future.
