The focus of the planned development is an old nature area, the surrounding area and an adjacent playing field, all within the grounds of Hendrefoilan Primary School. There are a number of different habitats within the area, such as wetland, woodland and meadow, but these are currently ‘wild’ and unmanaged.
Works proposed include introducing management to the nature reserve and extending the area of woodland by planting native trees. Undertaking thinning and coppicing, reducing non-native species, upgrading and extending paths and fencing. A pond dipping platform and seating area will also be provided so that the reserve can be utilised more and integrated into the daily life of the school and local community.
