Located at Cwm Lai Primary School the site comprises a large area of amenity grassland with a small, unmanaged copse and pond in one corner.
The project aims to create a new community woodland by planting trees, shrubs and woodland flora on the grassland area that adjoins the school. An all-ability trail will be developed to provide a path network through the new woodland leading to a circular gathering area, and a community artist will work with pupils to develop a central sculpture and artistic seating. The old pond will be restored and a small dipping platform created, boundary fencing will be installed, and a woodland management plan will be introduced so that it can be better utilised by the community and neighbouring schools.
